The curriculum at Wolverhampton Grammar School is specifically designed to provide all our students with as full and broad an academic experience as possible.
Work in subjects often goes well beyond what is required of students in public examinations. This is because as a school we want to provide our students with the knowledge and skills to take their studies further, not simply to pass exams. During the first three years at the school students have lessons in:
- Art & Design*
- Italian**
- Biology
- Latin*
- Chemistry
- Mathematics
- Design & Technology*
- Music*
- English PE/Games
- French
- PSHE
- Geography
- Physics
- German
- Theology & Philosophy
- History
Information Communication Technology is taught in Year 7 and 8. In Year 9, ICT training is delivered through its creative use in other subjects.
*These subjects become part of the mini-option system in Year 9.
**Italian is an optional subject in Year 9.
At GCSE, in addition to English Language, English Literature, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, and Physics students can choose from the following options: Art & Design
- History
- Design & Technology
- Italian
- French
- Latin
- Geography
- Music
- German
- Religious Studies
Students must choose at least one modern language and either History or Geography or both: all follow a certificated course in ICT. In addition all students follow general RS, PE, Games and PSHE courses.
