“Access to Excellence” is the underlying notion of the Foundation, and it embodies its two fundamental aims.
Firstly “access”. The school has always endeavoured to open its doors to any potential student that fulfils the academic prerequisites, regardless of their financial situation. The principal target of the Foundation is to fund a new collection of means-tested bursaries. The beneficiaries will of course adhere to the high scholastic standards of WGS, but these places will not be scholarships in the traditional sense. The focus is very much on widening access to the school within the community.
This is not to suggest that “excellence” is in any way forfeited. We will continue to uphold the highest standards by further upgrading the infrastructure. This is the additional aim of The WGS Foundation. When money is required for capital development, the Foundation can provide.
