Travelling to Wolverhampton Grammar School

By Rail: The nearest main line station is Wolverhampton (8 minutes by taxi), and has regular service connections to central Birmingham, the West Midlands, Manchester and London. To reach the bus station cross the ring road on the Railway Drive bridge. The bus station is then on your left. By Bus: There are two bus routes which serve the school: The 510 stops outside the school on Compton Road and the 543 goes down Merridale Road at the back of the school. Passengers should alight at ‘The Chindit’ public house and walk up Merridale Lane which runs alongside the school.

By Coach: Coach services operate to Wolverhampton Grammar School from Stourbridge, Newport, Stafford and Coven. For further information on pick up points on each route please contact the School directly on 01902 421326.

By Road:
From the South: Leave M6 at Junction 10 along the Black Country Route joining A454 signposted to Wolverhampton. Approaching Wolverhampton you will join the ring road at a set of traffic lights with Jennings Funeral Directors on your left. Go clockwise round the ring road following signs A454 to Bridgnorth. These take you left via a filter at the third roundabout into Chapel Ash. There is a strange three-way junction controlled by traffic lights. Compton Road is the middle of the three routes, signposted to Bridgnorth (A454). WGS is only a few hundred yards down Compton Road on your left.

From the North: Leave M6 at Junction 12, heading west along the A5. At the first (Gailey) roundabout turn left (south) to Wolverhampton onto the A449. Go under the M54 and head south down A449 into Wolverhampton. Keep heading south, going straight across 5 roundabouts. Having gone under a railway bridge you will find ‘Brindley Auto-Park and Wickes’ on your right. At the next roundabout bear half-right (leaving the roundabout at 1 o’clock, keeping the building with a clock to your left). Bear half-right at the next mini roundabout and you will pass the Wolves Football Ground (Molineux) on your left. Go straight across the first traffic lights and turn right at the next set which will take you onto the ring road. At the next roundabout turn right into Chapel Ash. On Arrival: Please park in front of the main building. Visitors to the school are requested to enter the school at the main entrance up the steps of the old building (Big School) to the Reception area under the tower. If you are coming to the Sports Centre, as you enter the gates please turn right through the car park and the building is on your left beyond the fenced netball courts.
