Friends of WGS - Auction of Promises 19th March 2008
Dear Parents, Staff and Students,
In the Autumn term we are going to be holding an Auction of Promises to raise funds for a new project, details of which will be announced at a later date.
We are asking you to donate an item or make a 'Promise' to support this event.
A 'Promise' is where you offer a service or you donate an item for the auction. Your 'Promise' or donation will be auctioned to the highest bidder at the auction.
When we held an auction a few years ago we had a most enjoyable and successful evening with a wide range of items and promises from parents, staff, students and local businesses.
Examples:
Home cooked Indian meal for 4 delivered to your home;
A pillion ride on a motorbike out to a picturesque pub for lunch;
An iced 2 tier celebration cake;
A half case of quality french wines;
Make and supply dinner party puddings suitable for 8 people;
Theatre tickets;
Tickets to a match at Manchester United;
A selection of home made bread;
Two hours ironing;
Bed and breakfast for two couples or a family of four for two nights;
A health check, vaccination and microchip for one pet;
home cooked, authentic Indian meal for four with wine, music and pleasant company at our home.
If you would like to donate, promise, or if you would to place a business advert in the Auction programme, please get in touch with the General Office at WGS.
If your child is taking part in a school expedition or tour in 2008/09, please indicate this on the form. A proportion of the funds raised against your donation/promise will go towards that tour to pay for kit, equipment etc.,.

Anyone associated with the school is a Friend of the school. You can help in many ways, supporting our events, helping out at an event or joining the committee. We are also looking for help with the termly sale of nearly new uniform.
We would also like to hear from any parent who works for Barclays Bank, Lloyds TSB, HSBC, Birmingham Midshires, HBOS, Nationwide etc so we can tell you all about the matched fund schemes your employers offer and how this can benefit the students.
