I am delighted to be able to publish the final version of the report on our January inspection by the Independent Schools Inspectorate.
I think it's fair to say that it is a glowing report. It is warm and generous in tone, despite the need to follow a tightly defined ISI structure, and gives a full and recognizable picture of the school.
I want to thank the parents, in particular, for taking the trouble to respond so fully and in such numbers to the questionnaire sent to you last Autumn. Your responses were overwhelmingly positive about the school, as were those of your children, and they carried very significant weight with the inspection team: the leader of the team, indeed, let me know informally that he had rarely if ever encountered such levels of satisfaction from the parents in a school.
The report gives warm praise for the standards achieved by students both in and out of the classroom, and speaks highly of them as learners and as decent, tolerant and rounded people - and rightly so. It also pays tribute to the enormous expertise and commitment of all the staff, again quite rightly. But the sentence that gives me perhaps the greatest pleasure is in the first paragraph of the overall conclusions on page 12:
"The school provides a model of a multi-cultural community where all are valued and treat each other with respect and dignity."
That, I think, goes to the heart of Wolverhampton Grammar School.
