WGS Announce New Head

Wolverhampton Grammar School is delighted to announce the appointment of its new Head Mr Vincent Darby, with effect from September 2008. He will take over from Dr Bernard Trafford who, having led the school for 18 years, is leaving to take up a post in Newcastle.

Vincent Darby, who is 52, has an outstanding track-record of school leadership and thirty years' experience as a teacher. He is currently Head at King Edward VI Camphill School for Boys. This is one of the top state schools at A level, which in 2006 received an outstanding Ofsted report and was named as the 2006 Sunday Times Secondary School of the Year.

As well as being a successful Head, he is a keen golfer, history and games teacher and considers himself a ‘student of film’.

Of his appointment Dr Simon Walford, Chairman of Governors said, "This is a very exciting appointment for Wolverhampton Grammar School and we expect our dynamic school to go from strength to strength under the leadership of Vincent Darby."
