The Sixth Form at WGS

To find out more about life at WGS , come to our Sixth Form Open Evening, 7pm, Thursday 17th November. Call 01902 421326 for more details.

A significant number of 16 year olds choose to join the school at this age to follow a choice of 26 A Level subjects.

We offer A Levels as a deliberate choice over other post-16 options for a number of reasons: first and foremost we are an academic school, but we also believe that students with A Levels give themselves a huge advantage when applying for a place at university. But while some students are concentrating on a university place and have a career in mind, others will still be undecided on their future career path and they will be following a range of subjects that appeal to them and to which they can give the significant commitment needed to make a success at A Level.

Sixth Form Life

A typical sixth former here – if indeed there is such a thing – will choose a broad range of subjects and we are rightly proud of our record in encouraging students to develop as individuals in their own right rather than follow narrow, prescriptive paths.

If you are excited by the prospect of learning, are stimulated by the idea of extra-curricular involvement in sports, music, drama, outdoor pursuits, foreign travel and much more, then Wolverhampton Grammar School is just the place for you.

Our sporting facilites are excellent; music, art and drama have superb new state of the art departments in which students can explore and develop their creative talents and a dedicated Sixth Form centre and library provide the ideal environment in which to study and relax.

The vast majority of our Sixth Form students go on to secure a place at their first choice of university and, in addition, over the past three years more than 80 percent of our students have gone to one of the UK’s top performing universities.
